The remote village of Ashrang in the Himalayas, is some two and a half hours off road from the nearest town of Ghorka, ancestral home of the British Army Ghurkas. It has a population of approximately 2,500, of which around 750 are children of school age (6 – 16).
Nepal, with no natural resources except the Himalayas, remains one of the poorest countries in the world with a national average income of $350. After many years of internal strife the education and welfare of children has become a priority for the new Government of Nepal. CENUK is committed to supporting the children who live there and ensuring that each one has the opportunity to attend school
